3MRT Launch InQuizitor

15.12.2006

(Gamers go back to School)

Today, 3MRT launch their much awaited games based study software for schools: InQuizitor.

InQuizitor is aimed squarely at today’s digital natives - school children of exam age who are immersed in a digital environment.

As well as providing a fantastically fun method of covering curriculum content for all students, the company designed the software to be compelling enough to re-engage many of the children who aren’t fully participating in the exam and study process.

The designers, who include several members of the original Grand Theft Auto team have been working on the product for two years. In partnership with teachers, children and parents, the company believes it has the achieved the right mix of stealth based learning and curriculum content to make the product a staple requirement for all schools.

Euan Mackenzie, CEO of the company said "There seem to be a lot of very bright children who for many reasons don't fully participate in the exam process. Our work with schools suggests that children with a lack of confidence in their own academic ability can be re-engaged by delivering key information in a hands-on and highly visual study environment."

InQuizitor is based on stealth learning concepts, where the learning is initially a secondary but necessary requirement to level up and win rewards from the game.

As users immerse themselves in the game, the acquisition of knowledge becomes the target.

Although the product comes with curriculum content, teachers can take full control of the system and set their own questions, raise the difficulty of the games and configure the system for different age groups and abilities.

Euan Mackenzie: "Games in education don't compete with classroom learning for a child's attention. They compete with high end games consoles running phenomenal graphics and addictive game play. Therefore an educational game needs to build in a level of competitive engagement that makes the student return again and again. InQuizitor does exactly that."
